[W22D5] The Fox and the Goat

One day, a fox fell down a well and couldn't get out.
After being stuck for a long time, a thirsty goat came by.
The goat thought the fox had gone down to drink, so he asked if the water was good.
"It's the best water ever," said the sly fox, "jump in and try it. There is more than enough for the both of us."
The thirsty goat immediately jumped in and began to drink.
The fox quickly jumped on the goat's back and leaped out of the well.
The foolish goat, realizing his mistake, begged the fox to help him out.
But the fox was already on his way.
"if your judgment was as good as your beard," he said as he ran,
"you would have been more cautious about finding a way to get out of the well before you jumped in."
Look before you leap.
어느 날, 여우 한 마리가 우물에 빠져 나오지 못하고 있었습니다.
오랜 시간 우물에 갇혀있던 중, 목마른 염소가 지나갔습니다.
염소는 여우가 물을 마시러 우물 속으로 들어갔다고 생각하고 물맛이 어떤지 물었습니다.
"최고야! 이리 들어와서 마셔봐. 우리 둘 다 마실 수 있는 충분한 물이 있어."
교활한 여유가 말했습니다.
목이 말랐던 염소는 바로 뛰어들어 물을 마시기 시작했습니다.
그때 여우가 빠르게 염소의 등을 딛고 우물 밖으로 나갔습니다.
어리석은 염소는 자신의 실수를 깨닫고 여우에게 도와달라고 빌었습니다.
하지만 여우는 벌써 자기 갈 길을 가고 있었습니다.
"너의 멋진 수염만큼 판단력도 있었따면 좋았을 텐데. 그럼 뛰어들기 전에 빠져나올 수 있는 법을 생각했을 텐데."
돌다리도 두드려 보고 건너야 합니다.

1. A thirsty goat came by.
   목마른 염소가 지나갔습니다.
   • by에는 '~옆에', '~을 지나서'라는 의미가 있다.
     came by라고 하면 '지나갔다'라고 할 수 있다.
     또는 '잠깐 들르다'라는 표현으로 쓸 수 있다.
   • I will come by to pick up the book.
     책 가지러 잠깐 들를께.
2. There is more than enough for the both of us.
   우리 둘 다 마실 수 있는 충분한 물이 있어.
   • more than enough는 무언가 여유롭고 많이 있다는 뜻이다.
     여기에 for가 붙은 표현은 일상에서 흔히 쓰인다.
   • Stop fighting! There is more than enough for everyone.
     그만 싸워! 모두가 충분하고도 남을 만큼 있어.
