One day, a butcher threw a dog a bone, and the dog hurried home with his bone as fast as he could.
As he crossed a narrow footbridge, he looked down and saw his reflection in the water.
The greedy dog thought is was another dog carrying a bone much bigger than his own.
He dropped his bone and jumped at his reflection in the river onluy to find himself swimming for dear life.
Finally, he managed to scramble out and realized what a stupid dog he had been.
It is very foolish to be greedy.
어느 날, 한 정육점 주인이 개에게 뼈다귀를 던져 주었고, 개는 뼈다귀를 물고 집으로 서둘러 갔습니다.
좁은 징검다리를 건널 때, 물속에 비친 자신을 보게 되었습니다.
욕심 많은 개는 자신의 것보다 훨씬 더 큰 뼈다귀를 가진 또 다른 개라고 생각했습니다.
개는 자신의 뼈를 떨어뜨리고 강에 비친 자신의 모습에 뛰어들었지만, 자신이 살기 위해 필사적으로 헤엄치고 있음을 깨달았습니다.
마침내 간신히 빠져나온 개는 자신이 얼마나 바보 같았는지 깨달았습니다.
욕심을 부리는 것은 매우 어리석은 짓입니다.

1. He dropped his bone and jumped at his reflection in the river only to find himself swimming for dear life.
   개는 자신의 뼈를 떨어뜨리고 강에 비친 자신의 모습에 뛰어들었지만, 자신이 살기 위해 필사적으로 헤엄치고 있음을 깨달았습니다.
   • 어떠한 의도를 가지고 A를 하고 나니 원래 의도와 상과 없는 B를 깨닫게 되었을 때 A only to find B를 쓸 수 있다.
   • Becky went to college only to find herself building a career through her part-time job.
     베키는 대학에 갔지만, 오히려 아르바이트로 시작한 일을 통해 전문 경력을 쌓게 되었습니다.
2. Finally, he managed to scramble out and realized what a stupid dog he had been.
   마침내 간신히 빠져나온 개는 자신이 얼마나 바보 같았는지 깨달았습니다.
   • manage to A라고 하면 A를 간신히 하다는 의미다.
     마침내 개가 managed to scramble out - 허겁지겁 밖으로 간신히 빠져나왔고
     realized what a stupid dog he had been - 저네 자신이 얼마나 멍청한 개였는지 깨달았다.
   • I managed to finish my work on time.
     나는 간신히 제시간에 일을 끝냈다.
